Riding with for the Kids

About Us

The Henderson County Toy Run focuses on bringing happiness to children and families in need, particularly during the holiday season, by collecting toys and donations through community-based motorcycle rides.

History

The Henderson County Toy Run was formed in 1997 by the Christian Motorcyclists Association (CMA). They started the toy run in the parking lot of the Steelcase Plant in Fletcher NC. It started out with a handful of people with loving hearts to help children. They served breakfast & lunch to a group of motorcycle

riders who rode in with toys on their bikes for the children. That first toy run there were around 100 – 150 motorcycles that showed up to help support the children.

They would then head out from Steelcase for a ride down 25/Asheville Hwy to Main St to the old courthouse downtown Hendersonville where they dropped the

toys off on the steps to be handed out to the foster children in Henderson County. After about 3 years, they moved to Fletcher Park where we are today.

The HCTR is in November, the Saturday before Thanksgiving and we continue to bring fun, food, games, music and prizes to all the bikers that come out to help provide Christmas gifts for the kids. Now it is between 350 – 675 motorcycles that join us for the toy run each year. We have a bigger ride now that takes us over an hour, going through the community for everyone to see all the bikes carrying the wonderful toys. We still stop at the courthouse to put all the toys on the steps, and what a sight to see if you haven’t! We are reaching more kids in the community and have helped other counties as well. We plan on many more years so if you haven’t come out to Main St or the courthouse to see all the bikes on that special day please do and bring a toy to put on the steps with us.

What a blessing, how the community comes together to help each other especially the children.

Hope to see you there!
